Grenadine was totally different in pre-prohibition drinks! I have been going through old cocktails books and discovered the Bacardi Cocktail and while researching it further I realized I may have never tasted Grenadine the way it was intended.

The Bacardi Cocktail:
Build in shaker
.5 oz or 15 ml. Lime Juice
.5 oz. or 15 ml. Pre-Prohibition Grenadine
1.5 oz. or 45 ml. Cuban Rum
Add ice and shake
Strain into glass
Bacardi Cocktail Post Prohibition:
Build in shaker
.5 oz or 15 ml. Lime Juice
.5 oz. or 15 ml. Post Prohibition Grenadine
1.5 oz or 45 ml. Cuban Rum
Add ice and shake
Strain into glass
Bacardi Cocktail Split Base:
Build in a shaker
1 oz. or 30 ml. Gin
2 oz. or 60 ml. Cuban Rum
1 oz. or 30 ml. Lime Juice
1 oz. or 30 ml. Pre-Prohibition Grenadine
Add ice and shake
Strain into glass
Bacardi Cocktail 1925:
Build in shaker
1 oz. or 30 ml. Pineapple Juice
1 oz. or 30 ml Gin
1 oz. or 30 ml. Cuban Rum
1 oz. or 30 ml. Lime Juice
1 Egg White
Dry Shake
Add ice and shake again
Strain into glass
OPTIONAL: 1 oz. or 30 ml. Pre-Prohibition Grenadine
Bacardi Cocktail 1930:
Build in mixing glass
1 oz. or 30 ml. Blanc Vermouth
1 oz. or 30 ml. Cuban Rum
2 dashes of Peychaud’s Bitters
Crack ice into mixing glass and stir
Strain into glass
Garnish with a twist of Orange
